Review
We didnt know what to expect from a cheap break away, but it was very reasonable at the Talbot Hotel.
The welcome on arrival was a little indifferent, basically here’s your key and get on with it.
However, the majority of the staff were kind courteous and flexible, the breakfasts and the evening meals delightful, compliments to the kitchen.
The location of the hotel within the town and within the area is very good as a base to explore the area and Malton is an attractive town with fantastic facilities for its size.
The room – nice and comfortable and the bed gave a decent night’s sleep.
2 strong criticisms of the room.
1) The windows do not lock. I know its North Yorkshire and a very friendly place with friendly people but having been a victim of crime on numerous occasions I think this is paramount for peace of mind.
2) The radiators were uncontrollable, it was either boiling hot or off. A couple on thermostats on the radiators would sort that out, it would also help your fuel bill and help the environment too. A £15 thermostat is a small cost per radiator.
Other than that it was good. By the way who was the manager because we never saw him or her during our visit.
