Go Ape Scoops Top Award

22nd Dec 2008

A local attraction which is visited by many of our Malton hotel visitors has been ranked among the top 100 companies with the fastest growing sales.

Go Ape has flown into The Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table, recently published in a special 12-page colour supplement.

Now in its twelfth year, the prestigious annual league table ranks Britain’s 100 private companies with the fastest-growing sales over the past three years.

Go Ape features at number 71 showing 63.67 per cent annual sales growth over three years. Employing 275 staff, Go Ape High Wire Forest Adventure courses are located in seventeen forests across the UK, stretching from the South Coast to Scottish Highlands and of course in Dalby Foreset, near our Malton Hotels.

Founded by husband and wife team Tristram and Rebecca Mayhew in 2002, the Go Ape concept was born in France when the couple discovered a tree top adventure course set deep in the Auvergne National Forest.

Tristram told the Malton & Pickering Mercury: “Being recognised for our financial success is great, however the driver for us has never been sales, it’s more about creating and growing a business that we can be proud of.

“Good jobs don’t grow on trees and our success has allowed us to create exciting jobs in seventeen different regions to date and grow our team to over 250. I am extremely proud of everyone who works with us – highly motivated people that believe in our ethos of living life adventurously.”

With a mission statement that invites participants to Live Life More Adventurously, this year the company welcomed its millionth customer and is on target to open 40 courses by 2012.
